Connor Flahive, Owner
Connor grew up on Northwest side of Chicago, where sports played a huge role in his life from very early on. He played basketball, soccer, football, volleyball, baseball, and ran track. Connor began working out with his father at the local YMCA when he was in 7th grade, and his love for training quickly grew. From the age of 13, he was researching and reading to find the best methods to get stronger and faster from the world’s best coaches. He continued to train himself and help teammates through high school.
Later, he went onto play football at the Division 1 level, as a fullback at Northern Illinois University. At NIU, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science. While in school, Connor began to use his football scholarship money to fund the purchasing of fitness equipment to build a gym and fulfill a lifelong dream. As the equipment piled up – in his mother’s basement – he got closer and closer to his dream.
Connor accomplished that dream of opening a training facility with the opening of FAST in April, 2011. Connor developed FAST’s philosophy and facility to help members reach their goals in the fastest, safest, most efficient way possible. FAST’s purpose is to help train, coach, and mentor athletes and to help busy adults lead a happier, healthier life. Connor’s ultimate vision is to help all FAST members think on a BIGGER scale and help them achieve all of their goals, not only in athletics and fitness, but in all aspects of their lives.
Connor’s writing and work has been featured on ESPN, STACK Magazine, OneResult, and Elite Fitness Systems.
Tommy Treslo, Director of Adult Fitness Training & Certified Nutritionist
Tommy’s love of training and athletics began early, as he grew up playing football. Tommy went on to play football and wrestle at Notre Dame High School. Tommy’s career was cut short due to a serious knee injury. This injury and the rehab process sparked Tommy’s interest in changing his views on how to train the body.
Tommy went on to Eastern Illinois University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science. Tommy began at FAST in April of 2013.
Tommy’s love of training and nutrition has allowed him to develop a premier training system for busy adults looking to make a lifestyle changed. He has helped many men and women lose body fat, develop functional strength, build lean muscle, and live a happier and healthier life!
Billy Hughes, Athlete’s Performance & Fitness Coach
Billy grew up on the Northwest side of Chicago into a very sports orientated family – two of his uncles coached collegiate athletics and continue to coach high school football and basketball. Athletics have always been a huge part of his life from an early age, up until he finished college.
Billy lettered in basketball and football in high school and went on to earn an athletic scholarship for football to Benedictine College in Kansas. In 2013, Billy earned a Bachelors in Criminology while minoring in Exercise Science. While at Kansas Benedictine, Billy, unfortunately, suffered two separate season-ending injuries. Although Billy’s career was cut short, these setbacks sparked his passion for developing athletes to help them avoid injury and overcome adversity.
He quickly found coaching and training as an avenue to live his passion. Coaching allows him to build great relationships that have a lasting impact, while helping people improve their fitness, build confidence and self-esteem. Having a positive impact on the community is very rewarding to him. Billy hopes to pass on a great work ethic for people to be successful and achieve happiness.
Nate Suchomel, Athlete’s Performance & Fitness Coach
Nate grew up outside of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where from a young age, played baseball, basketball, football, and ran track. During high school, Nate developed a passion for weightlifting after being mentored by his first Strength and Conditioning Coach, Kenny Hanzlik.
After high school, Nate went on to play football at Loras College. Following his career, he stayed at Loras as a Head Strength and Conditioning Intern for three years. In the summer of 2012, he received an internship as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at Boise State University, working primarily with their football team. After earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sports Science, Nate continued his education at West Texas A&M University as the Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach where he earned his Master of Science degree in Sport and Exercise Science.
During his time at WTAMU, he had the privilege to train the 2014 Division II Softball National Champions, the Lone Star Conference Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Champions, and the 5th Place National Finisher Equestrian team.
Nate has built his coaching style around creating a positive environment where athletes can develop in the safest and most efficient manner possible. His main goal is to make a lifelong impact with everyone he works with, just as his first mentor did for him.
Jonah Nilson, Athlete’s Performance Coach
Maddie MacTavish, Fitness Coach & Program Director
Maddie grew up in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. Her passion for fitness didn’t come until later in her college years. In college, she hired a personal trainer to help her guide through her own transformation, as well as, become knowledgable in the weight room and train safely. What she noticed was that there were not many women in the weight room and the women seemed intimidated by the gym. It lit a fire! She saw a huge need in the fitness industry for women, especially when it came to strength training.
After graduating from the University of Northern Iowa, with a degree in Psychology, she pursued her career in coaching & training. Maddie achieved her goal of becoming a certified personal trainer, and finished her internship at FAST. She loves working with members to help them progress and find their own their strength & confidence through the process!
